The Isles Farm is a working farm, home to our herd of suckler cows and their calves. We have Aberdeen Angus and Charolais cross calves born during spring and summer each year. In the winter the herd largely moves inside to keep warm and dry in the cowsheds and the fields are grazed by sheep. In the last couple of years we have added some Luing heifers to our breeding stock; Luings are a hairy Scottish breed more suited to living outside all year round.

The Isles Farm Cottage is a bungalow that was built when the farm was a dairy farm, it initially housed a dairyman and his family. The cottage is along a private lane to the farm and very little traffic passes, just the odd tractor and delivery van. The fields around the holiday cottage are used to grow grass for silage which is cut twice; usually in late June or July and August/ September (weather permitting).

The area has a diversity of wildlife; numerous rabbits and hares run around the fields, after dark badgers scratch around and if you are quiet you may see one or two. Roe deer occupy the Isles Woodland which surrounds two sides of the farm. There are numerous species of wild birds around the bungalow and farm including pheasants, woodpeckers, herons, jays, robins, tits and seasonal visitors such as curlews and fieldfares. House martins have built nests under the eaves of the bungalow and in late spring/ early summer they can be seen flitting around collecting food for their chicks. Swallows also swoop around the farm and sit on the telegraph wires.
